 My immediate reaction to both the smell and taste of this wine is berry. It has a much more full taste than many other wines I have tried. Good amount of tannin characteristics as I get the dry and puckering sensation with every drink.  This wine would pair very well with many foods. I like Rawson's Retreat much more than other merlot I have tried, but I still prefer the reds that aren't quite as full-bodied. If someone was looking for a bodied red wine to pair with food, I would definitely recommend.

Tasting - Dona Paula Los Cardos Cabernet Sauvignon

On the nose quite fruity with red fruits. On the palate it has gooseberry, grapefruit, and blackberry. Simple structure." - www.vivino.com Very similar to many other cabernet sauvignon I have tasted with the typical berry aromas.  Upon tasting, I detected sweeter fruit tastes than I expected.  One of the flavors almost reminded me of a strawberry type taste.  The typical cabernet sauvignon body with medium to strong tannins, giving it a dry sensation on the tongue.  I usually prefer cabernet sauvignon with food but the simplicity of this wine made it perfectly fine to drink on it's own.  I would recommend this wine to anyone who likes cabernet sauvignon and wants a casual glass without food.

Tasting - Trapiche Cabernet Sauvignon

Fruity aromas and flavors of mixed berry jelly, cork board, and pie crusts with a medium body and a peppery, delightful, medium-length juicy cassis and sanguine, honey covered panna cotta, allspice, and cigar box finish with clunky tannins. A nice cab with a big oak presence." -www.tastings.com Very powerful aromas of fruit, pepper, and honey.  The usual fruit flavors but I also tasted a smoky finish that isn't as common among reds.  I agree about the clunky tannins but I thought it was more full-bodied than medium-bodied.  I didn't pair it with food but I wish I would have.  Good wine but a little more full-bodied than I prefer.  I would recommend to someone looking to pair with a heavy meal such as steak.
